I posted this somewhere else cause I've had a good cry.  Also a bottle of wine which meant I feel the need to get embarrassingly real for a second. While it applies there and everywhere it probably relates here the most considering I've been posting here for some time. While we joke/troll/kiki I do count some of you posters as some of the first friends I've ever made online. I always rely on this community to be one of the first outlets I access when I need to escape or smile...

So here goes:

I'm not American and I feel somewhat out of place saying this cause I couldn't vote and I don't have the right to. I just wanted to say that I extend my love to each and every marginalised person today that saw the hate resurge full force in the United States.

I don't know how to say this in a measured way. Or any way I know that could convey a semblance of comfort from words scribbled on a screen from a stranger miles away.

All I could come up with is this:

I'm very sorry this has happened and I love you. Honestly, truly and unabashedly I really really love each of you suffering. I want to affirm in you the fact that you deserve better than this. Take care of yourself this week and do something that makes you smile. I love you.

I predicted the same. Him and I are both from Michigan and, without a doubt, I knew a lot of blue-collar workers would be voting in droves for Trump. He did win the states in the Rust Belt, after all.

No. He/She is right. Have you not read up on Pence? He is fucking evil.

I cannot believe we have someone like him as the 2nd in line to the U.S. Presidency.

There is no way more stuff is not going to pop up about him that will plague his time as "president" just wait. he has BOTH parties gunning for him, his taxes.... he may be impeached or worse. he is a shady, greedy NY business man with closets full of skeletons. His family is in for it in the worst way.
100% more stuff will come out. In a way Hillary is lucky because they would have continued to pick away at her.

You watch, now that she's not a threat to them anymore (and probably not seeking any public positions) the email scandal is going to quietly fade away. Republicans won't press her as hard and probably won't care.

I wonder if now that Trump is elected he holds special powers he can use to alter his taxes or hide shady shit.

You girls need to go back to government class :rip:

1. Popular vote isn't necessarily accurate in the current system. For example, a lot of republicans don't vote in California because they know they won't win the state and same for Democrats in Texas. Etc. If it was a popular vote, I bet turnout would be higher and thus be different numbers.
2. It keeps some power to the states. Electoral votes are proportional to the number of people in the state (by equaling number of senators), but a flat popular vote would give a HUGE advantage to states like California with a huge number of people of mostly Democrats for example. Electoral College also means a candidate has to appeal to states across the country and not just Cali, Texas, Florida, etc. It gives the states some power which is part of what our government is founded on.

Wrong.

The electoral college system is NOT fair whatsoever. There are more red states than there are blue states. Which ends up giving all the power to those few "swing" states. Who ultimately decide the winner.

A popular vote system would get rid of all this blue/red/swing states bullshit. It's simple, every vote would count. Unlike now where A LOT of people feel their votes do not count because they happen to live in a red or blue state. Which is why they don't vote.

Literally!

I have been so quiet today at work. Every POC or LGBT person I came across have literally locked eyes and immediately knew what they were thinking.

CIS white people literally have no worries whatsoever because they won't be affected. The the idiocy of the women who voted for Trump have no idea what they have approved men to do with their bodies.

It's a cycle of deplorables.

This is the hand we were dealt. It will say everything about us in how we choose to respond.

Well I agree with you about people not voting in certain states which is what I was saying about the popular vote being inaccurate.

Obviously it's more red this year because Trump won but states like Nebraska Idaho etc that are usually red HAVE about 3-5 votes. Florida has like 29 I think. So those states going red doesn't mean as much because you needt so many of them to make up for one bigger state.

For this election, Hillary lost because she failed not just traditional swing states, but even states like North Carolina and she almost even lost Virginia. She didn't even campaign Wisconsin due to cockiness she already won it. Check out electoral maps of 2008,2012, and 2016. She lost Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Florida all from Obama. If she had managed one or two of those she could have made it closer.

Anyway, this system is not new whether you agree or not and she dropped the ball on it. Her campaign knows how it works.

They're both shit and are a disgrace to the Oval Office but I'd feel even more disappointed in our country if someone did that.

Take them down other ways.
